What to Expect at a J2 Session

By Stephen, J2 Coaching UK

If you’re a parent thinking about booking a J2 session for your child, I just want to give you a quick idea of what it’s actually like. No sales pitch — just what to expect when you turn up.

It’s All About Your Child

I’ve worked with all sorts of players, and one thing I’ve learned is that no two kids are the same. That’s why every session I run is built around your child — their age, experience, confidence, and what they actually enjoy.

With younger kids, for example, we might start with some silly but brilliant games like farm animal moves — sometimes with a ball, sometimes without. It gets them moving, laughing, and feeling comfortable. It’s not about drilling technique at that stage — it’s about building confidence and making it fun.

Sessions Shaped by Them

For 1-to-1 or 2-to-1 sessions, I always ask what the player wants to work on. I’ve found that when kids lead their own sessions a bit, they’re way more engaged — and they improve faster.

Of course, I’ll guide things and offer advice where needed, but I’m not there to lecture. I ask questions that get them thinking for themselves. That way, they become part of their own learning — not just passengers in it.

The Environment

Every session is supportive, challenging, and inclusive. Whether your child is super confident or still finding their feet, they’ll be welcomed and encouraged.

One thing that makes J2 different is that we’re not just here for academy-level kids. I want every child to have access to good coaching — so we keep the cost as low as possible, run regular offers, and provide sessions that work for different budgets.

Before You Arrive

Here’s what you’ll need to bring:

  • Football boots

  • Shin pads

  • Water bottle

Booking is really simple — just head to www.j2coachinguk.com.And if you have any questions, feel free to drop me a message on Facebook or Instagram, or email me at info@j2coachingUK.com.

If you’re on the fence, I’d just say — book a session and come see what we’re about. I promise it won’t be anything too serious or too pushy. Just your child, getting better at football, having fun, and growing in confidence.

Hope to see you pitchside soon.– Stephen
